Archeological Find at Playa Hermosa
Discovery of marine life carved in rocks

Marine life carved into the rocks along an area of approximately two square meters, which appear could represent an archeological finding, were recently discovered on the popular and crowded beaches of Playa Hermosa.
The peculiar sculpture, which details at least two dolphins, fish, a sea horse, sting ray, two sea shells, a clam and other figures of marine life, is located just a few meters from the hotel Peñasco del Sol, in front of a condominium complex in the area.
This artistic expression, origin of which is currently unknown, is visible only at low tide as at high tide the area is completely covered by the ocean.
Jesús Valdez Benítez, resident of Playa Hermosa who informed this paper of the finding, remarked that he immediately notified authorities so that they could begin investigating and do what may be necessary in order to preserve the carvings.
He made a call to the people of the community to cooperate and preserve the figures, which had previously been covered with sand and then uncovered through the movement of the tides.
Valdez Benítez stated that there are already many people who have learned of the finding and the word is spreading. He considers that because of this, it is urgent that authorities take the necessary measures in order to prevent damage or alteration to the carvings.
He added that he would look into a way of building a small fence around the area to protect it, above all from vehicles and four wheelers.
Request for intervention of INAH Local authorities have already requested the intervention of the state delegation of the National Anthropology Institute (INAH) to determine the origin and nature of the rock carving figures found at Playa Hermosa.
Amaranto Celaya Celaya, Municipal Historian, commented that upon learning of the finding, City Secretary, Hildegardo Hernández, contacted him and the federal office so that they could carry out an investigation.
Celaya stated that this is something of which they had previous knowledge but only now have local authorities requested to look into whether or not this were an archeological finding.
The City Historian noted that with preliminary inspection the carvings apparently are not recent, however this can only be determined by the specialists of the INAH, who
