Aim to Clean Up Peñasco Youth Ecology Brigades Sworn In
With the aim of working towards a cleaner Peñasco in all sense of the word, on the morning of October 11th the youth ecology brigades of the Municipal Youth Institute were formally made up from more than 500 elementary and high school students.

During a ceremony held on the recreation courts of the organization, young students from the Cobach, Cet-Mar, Jr. Highschool 27, Jr. Highschool 20, and Instituto O'odham swore in their respective ecology brigades who received green t-shirts for their work.

Carlos Urrea Salazar, director of the Municipal Youth Institute, revealed that this is an ecology project focused on the most fertile subject, youth, who will carry out cleaning and awareness campaigns throughout the city's neighborhoods.

He remarked that with the growth of Puerto Peñasco there is also a growing generation of trash, therefore through these types of schemes young people can help contribute their grain of sand so that we can all enjoy the Peñasco we desire. Urrea Salazar stressed that this work would not be that of a month or of three months, rather of five years or more in order to achieve the results that are sought.

He indicated that the ecological brigades would begin their activities on October 14th in the neighborhood of Nueva Esperanza, through a first series of campaigns focused on health and ecology.

The swearing in of the ecology brigades corresponded to the municipal secretary, Hildegardo Hernández Castro, who acknowledged the young students. He called on the students to put forth their best efforts in order to carry out the success of the youth projects.

He indicated that along with these actions, the Municipal Government is working towards the improvement of the city's urban image, especially along the principal boulevards.

Similarly, he added, in coordination with the federal government, an environmental audit is being prepared in order to review the current situation of Peñasco and outline steps needed towards achieving a true sustainable development.
